From the recording Anne Feeney Sang

I was sad to hear the news that Activist, Musician, Labor Organizer and friend Anne Feeney has died of Covid-19. Anne survived 2 counts of Cancer but the virus took her on February 3, 2021. I met her around 1991 at her home in Pittsburgh while I was on tour there with fiddler Roberta Greenspan who couldn't wait to introduce me to Anne. She was bigger than life itself and an inspiration to me and so many countless others. Anne loved sing-a-longs as much as I do so I wrote this tune in this style on purpose. I hope you sing along. This song is free to share as a tribute to one of the best folksingers and songwriters I've had the privilege of sharing a stage with. Rest in Power, Anne and thank you for all your work for all of us.

Lyrics

Chorus:
Anne sang for all the people of the earth
Anne sang for all the workers of the earth
Anne sang for all the people, Anne sang for all the workers
Anne sang for all the children of the earth

She answered the door, I stood on the porch of her old Pittsburgh home
Smile shining bright, red curls in the sunlight and eyes that seemed to know
And when she sang those union songs, everybody just sang along
It didn't matter if you were afraid you would smile when she sang union maid

Chorus:
Anne sang for all the people of the earth
Anne sang for all the workers of the earth
Anne sang for all the people, Anne sang for all the workers
Anne sang for all the children of the earth

We would cross paths while out on the road and I loved to hear her sing
She stood her ground in every small town and took joy in simple things
And when she sang those union songs, everybody just sang along
It didn't matter if you were afraid you would smile when she sang union maid

Chorus:
Anne sang for all the people of the earth
Anne sang for all the workers of the earth
Anne sang for all the people, Anne sang for all the workers
Anne sang for all the children of the earth
